Western North Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Pious Vincent Abakah, has donated Toyota Voxy vans to constituencies in the region to generate revenue for the party’s local structures ahead of the 2028 general elections.

The vehicles are expected to be operated commercially, with proceeds used to support constituency offices, logistics, party activities and welfare programmes for members.

At the handing-over ceremony, Mr Abakah said constituencies needed to develop their own sources of income rather than relying solely on financial support from individuals and other party structures.

He said revenue from the vehicles should be used to meet the operational needs of constituency offices and support the party’s various wings, as well as welfare initiatives for polling station executives and activists.

Mr Abakah urged constituency executives to manage the vehicles as income-generating assets and ensure that proper systems were in place for their operation, maintenance and financial reporting.

He cautioned executives against using the vehicles in ways that could affect their commercial value and called for accountability in how the proceeds were managed.

Mr Abakah also called on NPP members in the Western North Region to resolve internal disagreements through dialogue as the party prepares for the 2028 elections.

He urged constituency executives to reconnect with former executives, aggrieved members and supporters who had become less active in party affairs.

“Rebuilding the party must be broad-based and inclusive,” he said, calling on constituency structures to reach out to members and stakeholders with whom they had disagreements.

He said the party’s efforts to reorganise its structures would require constituency executives to work together and avoid divisions that could affect their activities.

The Regional Chairman further asked constituency chairpersons and executives to prepare action plans and budgets for their programmes.

He said proper planning would enable the constituencies to identify their priorities, estimate the resources required and determine how their programmes would be funded.

Mr Abakah also encouraged constituency executives to engage opinion leaders, business owners, philanthropists, potential sponsors and other stakeholders who could support party activities at the local level.

He said such engagements should be conducted transparently and with proper accountability.

The Regional Chairman said the Voxy vans should be maintained and managed in a manner that allows them to continue generating revenue for the beneficiary constituencies.

He said the initiative was intended to provide the constituencies with an additional source of income as the party reorganises its structures ahead of the 2028 general elections, when the NPP is expected to campaign under the leadership of its 2024 presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
