A video of a polling station organizer at Konongo Odumase in the Ashanti Region, urging the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to do everything possible for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to lead the party in the 2028 polls, has gone viral.

In the video, the grassroots member of the NPP stopped the party’s Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, while he was driving, to deliver a message.

The organizer stressed the importance of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as the party’s flagbearer for the 2028 elections, citing his potential to revive the party.

“I strongly believe Dr Bawumia’s leadership would be instrumental in driving the party’s success,” he told Chairman Wontumi.

He further added, “Bring Dr Bawumia and I can assure you he will lead the party to power in 2028. The majority of the grassroots are rooting for him and so it will be apt to bring him back.”

On his part, Chairman Wontumi drew parallels between the current situation and the party’s past experiences, noting that delegates’ loyalty remains strong for the former Vice President.

He said he believes the same delegates who voted in 2023 will vote again in 2026 and their support for Dr Bawumia will be crucial in determining the party’s success.

The Ashanti Regional Chairman expressed confidence that Dr Bawumia’s leadership can drive the NPP’s resurgence.

He appealed to party delegates to rally behind the former Vice President, insisting that circumstances this time are in his favor.
