The family of New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Chairman, Stephen Ayensu Ntim, has requested that he temporarily step down from all party responsibilities due to health concerns and the urgent need for rest and medical care.

In a letter dated June 16, 2025, addressed to the Chairman of the NPP Council of Elders, the family expressed serious concerns about Mr. Ntim’s current state of health, citing “cognitive dissonance and mental incapacitation.”

They emphasized that his continued involvement in party activities infringes on his personal rights and poses a risk to his well-being.

The letter—signed by Adelaide Ntim (MP), Kingsley Oteng (Family Head), and other close relatives—acknowledged Mr. Ntim’s decades of service to the party, beginning with his role as First National Deputy Chairman and continuing in his current leadership position.

Despite his unwavering dedication, the family stated, “Steve is not well at the moment,” and urged the party to excuse him from the upcoming NPP meeting scheduled for June 17 at the Alisa Hotel, which he was expected to chair.

“Common sense dictates that Steve, as a matter of urgency, be temporarily excused not only from the rigours of active politics but also from intra-party activities, to allow for the peace and calm necessary for his ongoing medical treatment,” the letter read.

The family made a heartfelt and responsible appeal to the NPP leadership, urging them to recognize the seriousness of Mr. Ntim’s condition and to prioritize his recovery before considering his return to active party duties.
