A blind political historian, Kwesi Afari Duodu Maleek, has predicted that the New Patriotic Party can only win another general election if the date falls on a Tuesday.

In a video shared on YouTube on October 17, 2025, and speaking in a phone interview with Paul Adom Otchere on Good Evening Ghana, Duodu, commonly known as the ‘Blind Historian’, drew on historical patterns and numerology to make his case.

He argued that he was also a spiritualist and that his “source is Jehovah Elohim.”

He stated that one of the NPP flagbearer aspirants, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, will win the NPP internal elections scheduled for January 2026, but pointed out a distressing point for the NPP in the 2028 general elections.

“What will happen is that, as for Dr Bawumia’s victory in the upcoming January 31, 2026, elections, it’s assured.

“But for the 2028 Election, the NPP would have to do something about the date, December 7, 2028, which is a Thursday. In the realms, the NPP can only win the general election when it falls on a Tuesday,” he said.

He cited historical precedents ranging from the first democratic elections of the 4th Republic of Ghana to the recently held 2024 Election.

“In 1993, when the elections fell on a Thursday, the NDC won and the NPP lost. In 2004, the NDC lost the elections on a Tuesday, but they came into power when they had the elections on a Sunday in 2001. NPP lost the elections in 2008.

“In 2016, President Akufo-Addo sat on the throne on a Saturday and won again on a Thursday in 2021. Last year (2024), NPP lost the elections on Sunday,” he said.

Watch as a blind political historian predicted Mahama’s win

According to him, once former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was inaugurated on a Thursday, the NPP cannot win an election on that particular day.

“So, once Akufo-Addo has sat on the throne on a Thursday, it will be difficult for the NPP to win on a Thursday, irrespective of their candidate,” he said.

He, however, declared that “in 2032, when the elections will be on a Tuesday, there is no way the NDC will win. The NPP will be victorious.”
