Nottingham Forest have parted ways with Ange Postecoglou after just 39 days in charge, following a 3-0 home defeat to Chelsea at the City Ground.

The Australian’s brief tenure, which began on September 9, now stands as the shortest managerial spell in Premier League history.

Postecoglou failed to record a single win in eight games across all competitions, managing only two draws and suffering six defeats.

Forest picked up just one point from five Premier League matches under his leadership, leaving the club hovering just above the relegation zone in 17th place.

A statement from the club confirmed his dismissal:

“Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that after a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect. The club will make no further comment at this time,” a Forest statement read.

Postecoglou’s exit marks Forest’s third managerial change of the season, after the earlier departure of Nuno Espirito Santo.

Fulham boss Marco Silva is reportedly among the leading contenders to replace him, with former Burnley and Everton manager Sean Dyche also under consideration.
