The Chancellor of North-Eastern University (NEU), His Royal Highness, Alhaji Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III, CFR, Chairman Council of Chiefs and Emirs recently hosted renowned investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

The journalist visited the NEU Chancellor in Nigeria’s Gombe State following his keynote address at the International Conference on Trends in Investigative Journalism in Northern Nigeria.

The conference was organized by the University, in partnership with WikkiTimes and Ghana’s Tiger Eye Foundation.

The conference brought together leading voices in journalism to discuss the evolving role of investigative reporting in fostering accountability and development.

During his visit, Anas was warmly hosted by the Emir of Gombe, Alhaji Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III CFR, at his palace.

“North-Eastern University, Gombe is a source of pride to Gombe and a catalyst for growth and innovation,” the Emir remarked.

Following the discussion, the Emir treated Anas to a tour of the royal stables, showcasing Gombe’s rich cultural heritage through its magnificent horses. Anas commended the Emir’s visionary leadership and the university’s impact, calling the visit both enlightening and inspiring.

Anas thanked the Emir for honoring him and promised to help in the upliftment of journalism in Gombe.
