Kumawood actress Clara Benson popularly known as Maame Serwaa has disclosed that throughout her experience as an actress, no producer has ever asked for sex in return for a role.

The actress made these statements during an interview on Onua FM on March 6, 2025, where she discussed her plans to start producing her own films.

“I’ve had the idea of being a producer when I decided to experience more even though I’m an actress and I know more about the job. How the directors and producers do their jobs, I want to also experience that.

“I decided to search for more so when I was in school, that’s the idea I had. When I completed school, I met with my management and told them I want to start my own production and also audition for young talents” Maame Serwaa said.

She bemoaned how the ‘Sex for roles’ perception have deterred people from exploring their movie talents.

“People have talents in Ghana but they are scared to bring themselves on board because of the thing they’ve heard. People always ask whether it’s true that they’ve heard the producers ask for sex in return of roles. Because of that, some parents are scared to allow their children to start acting.

“The people and the producers I’ve worked with are all big producers and they have never and will never ask for sex for you to get a role. I don’t know what’s going on or the producers who have come into the scene that have made things change” she said.

Maame Serwaa also stated that she is ready to prove to people that upcoming talents can be groomed to reach the level she is at today.

“This is the time we need to prove to people that, whatever they are thinking is not like that. If you have the talent, then why not. We can use that talent for you to be like the starts we see on the screen,” she added.
