Former Chelsea defender Ashley Cole has revealed some of Didier Drogba’s pre-match rituals, emphasizing that the Ivorian’s boots were untouchable.

According to Cole, this ritual was so important that no player dared to interfere with Drogba’s boots before a game.

Ashley Cole shared this insight during an episode of Football’s Greatest, a podcast on YouTube, where he discussed what it was like to have Drogba as a teammate.

“He was possessed. He had these rituals in the dressing room after the kit man laid out the equipment,” he told former Chelsea player Joe Cole on the show.

He further stated that Drogba sometimes gets upset when his boots do not get the right temperature from the hot water, adding that the boots were always last.

“I have seen him lose it a little bit because his boots are not stretched and put in the hot water properly for the right amount of time. He doesn’t like it.”

“His boots were always at last.”

Ashley Cole spent six years playing alongside the Ivorian international at Chelsea. Cole joined the Blues in 2006, two years after Drogba arrived from Olympique Marseille.

Drogba left Chelsea in 2012 following their historic Champions League triumph, while Cole departed two years later.

Together, they won one Premier League title, multiple FA Cups, one Community Shield, one EFL Cup, and the historic UEFA Champions League in 2012.
