After several popular Ghanaian prophets predicted disasters during the Detty December festivities in 2025, prophecies that eventually did not materialize, renowned disc jockey DJ Mensah has weighed in on the matter.

Speaking on GhanaWeb’s X Space on January 16, 2026, DJ Mensah disclosed that he also received numerous such prophecies.

He emphasised that Ghanaians do not need pastors to predict calamities, stating that effective security measures should instead be put in place at events.

“If I want to transfer all my WhatsApp messages from pastors, I’m sure it could record a whole album of messages, like, be careful, I’ve seen an accident. But sometimes we don’t need pastors to tell us anything.

“When security checks are done properly, I don’t think we should face some of these situations,” he said.

DJ Mensah also expressed concern about how event organisers often ignore basic security precautions during concerts.

“I’m not perfect with my events, but I try as much as possible to make sure that all the little things that can cause problems, especially fire and stampedes, are taken care of.

“We play with some of these things. You go to a club, and the exit is locked. If there’s an emergency, are you going to start looking for a key? That’s a problem. It’s a crazy area we are playing with,” he added.

Meanwhile, GhanaWeb’s X Space airs every Friday from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM and is hosted by Joseph Henry Mensah and Isaac Dadzie.
