CEO of Northern Development Authority, Sulley Sambian CEO of Northern Development Authority, Sulley Sambian

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Northern Development Authority (NDA), Lawyer Sulley Sambian, has strongly refuted claims of land encroachment involving the authority’s 1.2-acre property, maintaining that the land remains fully intact and under the NDA’s control.

Speaking on Citi FM’s Eyewitness News with Umaru Sanda Amadu, monitored by MyNewsGh.com, Lawyer Sambian sought to clear the air amidst allegations of unauthorized developments on the property.

“There is no such encroachment on our land in the sense that what the Lands Commission offered us was 1.2 acres,” he asserted.

“We have paid the premium on the 1.2-acre land, and we have that land intact. As to why there is another person on the lands, it is for the Lands Commission and not us.”

Reports of a fence wall being erected by unidentified individuals on the premises have raised suspicions of land misuse or unauthorized sales, concerns heightened by internal accusations.

According to a reporter from Citi FM, the Director of Infrastructure at the NDA reported the matter, alleging that a woman had requested a portion of the land following the elections, later granting permission for a wall to be constructed.

“When I heard that they were erecting a wall, I wasn’t even the first person to tell the officers to stop,” Lawyer Sambian explained.

“Then I asked them to ensure no encroachment on our lands. And to the best of my knowledge, we have our 1.2-acre land intact. We have not given that land to anybody.”

The allegations have spotlighted internal tensions within the authority, which are strongly believed to be attempts to undermine Sambian’s position.

Despite these challenges, he remains resolute in defending the NDA’s interests.
