In a heartfelt display of admiration and respect, former Black Stars midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang Badu took to Instagram on Monday, January 27, 2025, to honor one of Ghana’s most iconic sporting figures, the legendary Azumah Nelson.

With a career spanning decades and numerous accolades, Nelson has firmly established himself as a national hero and a boxing legend.

Agyemang Badu lauded Nelson’s extraordinary achievements in the boxing world and his lasting impact on the sport.

Sharing a photo of the two at the Ultimate Legacy Boxing Night in December 2024, Agyemang Badu reflected on the determination and grit that defined Nelson’s remarkable journey and the influence he has had on his fans and the sport as a whole.

He captioned the post: “No guts, no glory. No legend, no story. The Professor Azumah Nelson.”

As a boxer, Azumah claimed three world titles during his illustrious 28-year career, amassing an impressive record of 38 wins, 6 losses, and 2 draws.

This includes 27 knockout victories, 12 of which came in world-title fights. In 2004, he was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame (IBHOF).

Since retiring, Nelson has devoted his time and energy to nurturing young boxing talent. Through the Azumah Nelson Foundation, he empowers underprivileged youth in Ghana, focusing on education and sports as tools for transformation.
