The Chief Fire Officer (CFO) of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), Daniella Ntow-Sarpong, has reassured the public that the massive fire outbreak at Adum in Kumasi’s Central Business District has been successfully contained.

Speaking to the media, she commended the efforts of firefighters on the ground, emphasizing their commitment to preventing any resurgence of the flames.

“The fire has been confined, and everything is fine. We just have to maintain it and ensure that it doesn’t spread again. Our firemen are here with their appliances, and I believe in them. They are going to work to ensure that the fire they have curtailed does not spread again,” she stated.

Addressing concerns about fire tenders running out of water, she dismissed the notion, stressing that firefighting involves more than just water.

“With our fire tenders, when the job is very intense, within a twinkle of an eye, the water finishes. So, we can never say the water is finished. Which soldier goes to war without a gun? It is impossible.

“The press should help us and encourage people to know that we don’t come to fire scenes when there is no water in the fire tenders. Who even said it is only water we use to quench fire? We have many things we use in quenching fires,” she added.

The GNFS continues to monitor the situation, ensuring that all potential fire threats are fully eliminated while urging the public to support their efforts in emergency response situations.
