Earlier today, popular Nigerian skitmaker Nasiru Lawal, widely known as Nasobi, announced his decision to stop making skits so that he could focus on making music.

He revealed this in a post he made to his Instagram page. There, he shared a video which served as his musical debut, as it featured a snippet of his song, but also as a farewell, as the caption announced his departure from the comedy scene.

“Done with skit making! Not turning back. Music time!”

In a follow-up post, he went into further details about his decision, explaining what had led him to this point and his plans moving forward, while thanking fans for their support.

    He wrote,

    “Good morning guys!!

For the past 5 years, I’ve dedicated myself to creating skits. Using laughter, storytelling, and real-life moments to entertain.

This journey has been nothing short of amazing. The love from fans and colleagues, I say thank you. After a lot of reflection and prayer, I have dedicated to quit skit making.

It’s time to grow as an artist.

To everyone who supported me on this journey, God bless you!

    This isn’t goodbye, it’s a new beginning.

Make una no mind me na malaria dey do me. Help me stream my new song “Friday night.” Quit say wetin happen?”

Following his message, fans flocked to the comments section to share not only their disappointment at his decision to quit skitmaking but also their support for this new path he has chosen.

Lamenting the loss, they expressed their love for his previous videos and their expectations for his music going forward.
