Black Stars defender, Nicholas Opoku delivered another commanding performance in Kasimpasa’s goalless draw against Kocaelispor in the Turkish Super Lig.

The 28-year-old who was deployed in the right back position by coach Emre Belozoglu at the Yıldız Entegre Kocaeli Stadium against Kocaelispor on Sunday, December 7, 2025, proved himself as a versatile defender.

Despite being played out of position, Nicholas Opoku was exceptional as he helped his team to keep a clean sheet.

In 90 minutes, Opoku registered 44 touches, showing his calm involvement in Kasimpasa’s build-up play. He completed 20 of his 24 passes, including 2 out of 3 long balls, a reminder that he is not only a strong defender but also a composed distributor capable of helping the team progress the ball from deep.

Defensively, Opoku was nothing short of outstanding. He produced 17 clearances, the highest of any player on the pitch, constantly relieving pressure and keeping the opposition from threatening the Kocaelispor goal.

His ability to read danger early has become one of his standout traits since joining the club.

His awareness and positioning were again on display with 2 interceptions, a tally that no other player in the match surpassed. These moments helped break down several dangerous attacking moves from the opposition, reinforcing his role as a defensive anchor.

Opoku also contributed with 4 ball recoveries, ensuring Kocaelispor regained control in key moments of the game.

The Black Stars defender was rated 7.4, the highest rated Kasimpasa player in the game against Kocaelispor.
