    Black Stars, Chelsea and Newcastle United have paid tributes to former Black Stars player Christian Atsu as today, February 6, 2025 marks two years since his tragic death in Turkey.

    The Black Stars’ official handle on X (formerly Twitter) wrote an emotional tribute, stating that the former footballer’s significance to Ghana football will not be forgotten.

    “On this day 2 years ago, we lost Christian Atsu in the tragic Turkey earthquakes. His kindness, talent, and dedication to Ghana football will never be forgotten. Forever in our hearts.”

    Chelsea in their tribute extended their condolence to their former player’s family and friends.

    “Two years ago today we tragically lost Christian Atsu. Our thoughts continue to remain with Christian’s family and friends,” the club wrote on X.

    Many football fans as well as Ghanaians have all joined in to to pay tribute.

    Christian Atsu passed away following a tragic earthquake in Turkey. The former Black Stars player was trapped under the rubble for about three days before he was found lifeless on February 8, 2023.
