With a focus on transparency, the athletics governing body, World Athletics has unveiled “Road to Tokyo 25,” an interactive tool to track progress towards the World Athletics Championships in Japan, set to take place in September 2025.
World Athletics officially launched the qualification system and the interactive “Road to Tokyo 25” tool for the upcoming World Athletics Championships, scheduled September 13 to 21.
The qualification system retains the format used in recent World Championships, employing a dual approach: 50 per cent of athletes will qualify through pre-established entry standards, while the remaining 50 per cent will secure their places based on their world ranking positions.
The “Road to Tokyo 25” app is an online resource designed to provide athletes, fans, and media with a clear and up-to-date view of the qualification process.
It enables users to search by discipline, country, and qualification status, delivering real-time data throughout the qualification period.
However, the tool does not reflect the final selections made by national federations. The definitive list of participating athletes will be released closer to the start of the championship.
World Athletics underscores its commitment to transparency and accessibility, offering all stakeholders detailed insights into the journey towards one of the most prestigious events in global athletics. —Insidethegames.biz
