The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has confirmed the arrest of Lagos socialite and nightclub owner Mike Eze-Nwalie Nwogu, popularly known as Pretty Mike, over his alleged involvement in organizing a drug-themed party at his nightclub, Proxy Night Club, in Victoria Island, Lagos.

In a statement released on Monday, October 28, 2025, the agency’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, said the operation was part of efforts to curb the growing trend of ‘drug parties’ in social circles, which he described as a blatant illegality under Nigerian law.

According to Babafemi, NDLEA operatives stormed the club located at 7 Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island, during a raid that lasted from around 11 p.m. on Saturday, October 25, into the early hours of Sunday, October 26.

Over 100 attendees were initially arrested, alongside Pretty Mike and his club manager, Joachin Millary.

While all attendees were later profiled, counselled, and released, the NDLEA said both Pretty Mike and his manager remain in custody following the discovery of 384.882 kilograms of Canadian Loud, a potent strain of cannabis, along with other illicit substances recovered from the club’s store.

Babafemi further warned nightclub owners and fun seekers to desist from organizing or participating in such gatherings, stressing that any event organized for the purpose of consuming, distributing, or abusing illicit substances would be treated as a serious narcotics offence.

“Our undercover agents conducted surveillance on the facility, made pre-purchases of illicit drugs from within the club, and for four hours observed and recorded drug transactions and abuse going on before eventually disrupting the brazen public display of illegality and making arrests. These drug parties contravene the explicit provisions of the NDLEA Act and will be treated as serious narcotic offences,” The statement read.
