Elikplim Akurugu and Sarah Adwoa Safo are spotted at the Katanka Technology Expo.
Elikplim Akurugu, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for the Dome-Kwabenya district, was recently photographed with Sarah Adwoa Safo, the area’s outgoing Member of Parliament, at the Kantanka Technology Expo on Monday, December 30, 2024.
The couple was seen at the occasion in a candid moment.
This development comes after the Electoral Commission (EC) recently declared plans to rerun the parliamentary elections at the Abokobi Women’s Development Center 2 polling station, a decision that has sparked debate in the constituency.
Broadcast Journalist Serwaa Amihere provided an update on her social media page that stated, “NDC’s Dome Kwabenya PC Elikplim Akurugu spotted with outgoing MP for the constituency, Sara Adwoa Safo, at Kantanka Technology Expo.”
The rerun has raised tensions between the two major political parties.
The National Democratic Congress has maintained that the repeat is unnecessary, saying that its candidate, Elikplim Akurugu, has already won.
On the other hand, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is still certain that its candidate, Mike Oquaye Jr., would win.
On Saturday, December 28, 2024, the EC reported that the polling station results had been annulled due to irregularities in recording on the incorrect sheet, rather than the appropriate pink sheet.
The repeat will determine the final conclusion of the parliamentary race, which is currently unclear.
