A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) communications team, Shamima Muslim, has affirmed the NDC’s unwavering commitment to delivering on its promises, assuring Ghanaians that the party will not become complacent after the initial briefing on its 120-day social contract.
Speaking on Pan African TV on May 10, 2025, Muslim underscored the NDC’s dedication to implementing pivotal policies aimed at guaranteeing jobs, fostering good governance, and ensuring national prosperity.
“So far, so very good. I think the jury is out; we have received quite great commendations from a cross-section of Ghanaians. And it’s always good to test the pulse of the people across different status, across societies, and different interests. Generally, I think there’s an outpouring of commendations,” she stated.
Muslim specifically highlighted positive feedback from notable figures such as Professor Stephen Addai, who she noted, along with other professors, had affirmed the efficiency and delivery of His Excellency Mahama’s 120-day promises.
“For us, this is not for us to sit and gloat over; it is to quickly put all our appointees to work,” she emphasized, stressing the urgency required to fulfill the party’s extensive commitments.
According to Muslim, the NDC has outlined numerous promises that demand immediate attention for their successful implementation.
“Considering a four-year mandate that is promising to do a lot, it requires a certain level of urgency… urgency in thoughts and approach… in delivery and execution,” she explained.
She clarified that the 120-day social contract represents a series of foundational programs designed to build upon the party’s broader policy commitments, which align with their manifesto theme of “resetting Ghana for jobs, accountability, and prosperity.”
“It’s a series of promises that cut across some specific sectorial areas which, in our view, were priority areas to begin the administration with,” Muslim stated.
Citing good governance practices as a key priority, she highlighted specific deliverables, “So we made the promise that we were going to have the leanest and most efficient administration with not more than 60 ministers, and in fact, we have made all these deliverables with 56 ministers. Within 14 days, we put a cabinet in place as promised – and everyone admits that it is unprecedented in the Fourth Republic.
