The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) government has demonstrated its commitment to the development of the Wassa Amenfi traditional area, honoring the community and its esteemed leader, Edim Kese, with a substantial financial pledge and a clear outline of ongoing and future developmental projects.

A high-powered delegation representing the NDC government, led by the “humble” Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Nelson, converged on Wassa Akropong to underscore the party’s dedication to the region. The delegation included Members of Parliament (MPs) for the Wassa Amenfi constituencies: Hon. Eric Aful (West), Hon. Nicholas Amankwah (East), and Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe (Central). They were joined by Hon. Issah Taylor, MP for Tarkwa Nsuaem, further emphasizing the broad governmental support for the area.

The presence of the Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) for the Wassa Amenfi traditional area – Hon. Raymond Nana Ebba (Amenfi East), Hon. Peter Amponsah (Amenfi Central), and Hon. Priscilla York (Amenfi West) – highlighted the coordinated local governance efforts being deployed. Accompanying these dignitaries were various constituency and branch executives, signifying a united front from the party at multiple levels.

A key highlight of the event was a significant cash donation of One Hundred and Eighty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHS 180,000), presented by Minister Nelson and his team. This substantial sum is designated to bolster the educational fund and support other crucial development initiatives within the Wassa Amenfi traditional area.

During the proceedings, Minister Nelson and the assembled MPs articulated the government’s vision for the region, detailing several major development projects currently underway and those slated for commencement. These include critical road infrastructure projects aimed at improving connectivity and facilitating economic activity. Notable among these are the Bawdie to Asankragwa-Agona to Sehwi Bekwai, Asanka Breman to Fojourkrom, and Semre Aboi to Mumuni – Prestia Nkwata road projects.

Furthermore, the delegation announced the planned establishment of a College of Education in Wassa Amenfi. This initiative is expected to significantly enhance educational opportunities and human resource development within the traditional area, providing a vital pathway for aspiring educators and contributing to the growth of the knowledge economy.

The recognition and substantial investment pledged by the NDC government, in honor of Edim Kese and the people of Wassa Akropong, signals a strong partnership focused on tangible progress and sustained development for the communities. The promises made signify a commitment to addressing key needs and fostering a brighter future for the region.
