The Minority Health Caucus of Parliament has condemned the actions of activist Ralph St Williams at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge Hospital) on Monday, August 18, 2025, describing them as unlawful and disruptive.

In a press release issued on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, the Caucus accused the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) of enabling such behavior for partisan gain.

The Caucus expressed concern over a video showing St Williams storming the hospital with a group of men, shouting aggressively, filming health professionals, patients and visitors without consent and causing disruption.

The Minority linked this to a pattern of misconduct on the part of Ralph, noting his recent altercation with a Minority MP.

“It is becoming increasingly apparent that the government has, by its silence and gestures of accommodation, given licence to individuals aligned with or sympathetic to the National Democratic Congress to engage in needless acts of intimidation, disorder and political violence under the guise of activism.

“Such selective tolerance erodes public trust in our democratic institutions and further undermines the morale of frontline professionals who already labour under strenuous conditions,” the statement signed by the Ranking Member on the Health Committee of Parliament, Dr Nana Ayew Afriye stated.

The statement highlighted troubling interactions between St Williams and the health minister, raising questions about government support.

“We note with disquiet that this same individual was only recently involved in a public altercation with a minority Member of Parliament, which required police intervention.

“His latest misconduct forms part of a worrying pattern of behaviour that ought to attract national censure rather than tacit endorsement.

“Yet, it is troubling that Mr St Williams is now seen in cordial interaction with the Honourable Minister of Health, a development which raises serious questions about the extent to which the ruling government has chosen to embolden and romanticise such conduct for narrow partisan advantage,” the Minority said.

The Caucus called on the Ghana Police Service to investigate and urged the health minister to launch a joint inquiry with the Parliamentary Select Committee on Health.

The Minority also apologised to Ridge Hospital staff and patients, reaffirming support for healthcare workers.
