The Office of the National Broiler Project, under the Minister of State for Special Initiatives, has taken a major step to improve school nutrition by introducing locally sourced chicken into the classroom.

In collaboration with the Greater Accra School Feeding Coordinator, the project recently hosted a hands-on nutritional training for school feeding caterers.

Participants were shown the quality and versatility of Nkoko Nketenkete, chicken raised under the Broiler Redevelopment Program.

Kelvin Ocran, National Coordinator of the National Broiler Project, said the initiative goes beyond nutrition.

“By supplying our schools with locally produced chicken, we are ensuring children receive healthy meals, supporting local farmers, and reducing reliance on imported poultry,” he explained.

The program forms part of a broader effort to provide organic and healthy poultry to schools while empowering Ghanaian agriculture.

Officials hope the initiative will help build a sustainable future and inspire similar partnerships nationwide.
