The National Youth Authority has marked a significant milestone in the National Apprenticeship Programme by distributing tools to the first group of beneficiaries in Greater Accra.

The initiative aims to empower young Ghanaians with vocational skills and entrepreneurial capacity.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Executive Officer of the NYA, Osman Abdullai Ayariga, said, “This distribution is more than a support programme it is a long-term investment in Ghana’s human capital and a demonstration of our resolve to tackle youth unemployment.”

Ayariga explained that apprentices are receiving equipment for trades, including tailoring, carpentry, electrical work, and beauty services, enabling them to establish businesses or enhance their practical training.

“Whether you are training as a tailor, carpenter, electrician, or beautician, you are part of a national movement that values your craft,” he said.

He also emphasised the importance of TVET in national development, stating, “Technical and vocational skills are key drivers of industrialisation, job creation, and poverty reduction. By supporting apprenticeships, we are equipping Ghana’s youth for the jobs of today and tomorrow.”

Concluding his speech, the CEO pledged NYA’s commitment to accountability and monitoring, saying, “We will ensure that every Cedi invested yields measurable impact. Empowering our youth is empowering Ghana.”
