Nathaniel Adjei produced an assured defensive performance as FC Lorient secured their Ligue 1 status with a 2-0 victory over Olympique de Marseille on Saturday.
The 23-year-old center-back played the full 90 minutes, recording four clearances, one recovery and an outstanding 97 percent pass accuracy, highlighting his composure at the heart of defence as Lorient kept their opponents at bay.
The result confirmed safety for Lorient, ending a three-game winless run while extending their impressive home unbeaten streak to 14 matches. The hosts took the lead in the first half when Panos Katseris capitalized on a loose ball to score after good work from Bamba Dieng.
Marseille responded after the break through Timothy Weah and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, but goalkeeper Yvon Mvogo and a disciplined defence led by Adjei held firm. Dieng later sealed the win with a composed finish.
Adjei’s display marks continued progress following injury setbacks, as he works to regain top form and push for inclusion in Ghana’s squad ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
