Lawyers for the National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, popularly referred to as Nana B, have issued a formal demand for a retraction and apology from the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) following a recent publication on the alleged ghost names scandal at the National Service Authority (NSA).

In a letter addressed to MFWA on Monday, February 24, 2025, Nana B’s legal representatives, Sarkodie Baffour Awuah & Partners, argued that the report falsely linked their client to management decisions at the National Service Authority (NSA), formerly the National Service Scheme (NSS), from 2017 to 2024.

They emphasised that their client only served as Deputy Executive Director of the NSS between January 2017 and September 2018, when he resigned after being elected National Youth Organiser of the NPP.

“Our client instructs us that sometime in February 2025 you aired on TV3, a purported investigative story titled ‘NSS Scandal, the Inside Story,’ which story has been republished and discussed on several other media platforms.

“While our client is resolute that no wrong was done by the officers of the NSA over the past eight (8) years, we have his instructions to bring to your notice that he was Deputy Executive Director between January 2017 and September 2018, when he resigned after being elected the National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP),” it said.

Consequently, the lawyers demanded that within seven days, the MFWA retracts the allegations and issue an apology.

“We have our client’s instructions to demand from you and we hereby do, that within seven (7) days of receipt of this letter, you retract and/or cause to be retracted, the aforementioned story as published on TV3.

“We also have our client’s instructions to demand that you issue an apology for the false publication within seven (7) days of receipt of this letter to be published in the same manner as the aforementioned false allegations were published,” it added.

They warned that failure to comply with these demands would lead to further legal action.
