The National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, has launched a scathing critique of the High Court ruling that ordered a rerun of the Kpandai parliamentary election.

Justice Emmanuel Bart Plange Brew of the High Court in Tamale directed the Electoral Commission (EC) to conduct a fresh election after reviewing a petition challenging the original results. Parliament subsequently declared the seat vacant on Monday, December 8, 2025.

Addressing journalists in Accra on Tuesday, December 9, Nana B argued that the court mishandled key elements of the case, particularly the burden of proof.

According to him, the ruling represented “judicial overreach rather than a faithful interpretation of the law.” He further claimed the court failed to properly evaluate the petitioner’s alleged role in vandalism that prompted the relocation of the collation centre.

Nana B also disagreed with the court’s approach to assessing alleged irregularities, stating:

“This is not interpretation; this is dictatorship from the bench… Speculation became acceptable, vague and unsubstantiated assertions were deemed sufficient. The petitioner produced no credible tally.”

The court’s decision has stirred debate within political circles, with parties offering differing interpretations of its implications for electoral integrity in the Kpandai constituency.

The Electoral Commission has yet to announce a date for the rerun.
