The acting paramount queen mother of the Shama Traditional Council, Nana Akosua Gyamfiaba II, has filed nomination to contest for the Council of State member for Western Region.

Nana Gyamfiaba, 62, also the queen mother of Nyankrom, near Shama, has pledged to work with stakeholders, to tackle poverty, illiteracy, ignorance, and promote healthcare.

“I am committed to driving positive change in the Western Region if I am elected a member of the Council of State,” she told The Ghanaian Times after filing her nomination on Monday.

Nana Gyamfiaba said she would liaise with the government, chiefs, civil society organisations and youth groups, to bring peace and development to the region.

She promised to solicit funding for development projects in the Western Region, while ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently.

Nana Gyamfiaba said she would initiate entrepreneurship programmes to boost economic growth, create jobs for the youth and preserve the region’s cultural heritage.

Nana Gyamfiaba pursued a career in administration and secretaryship, and obtained an HND from Takoradi Technical University, formerly Takoradi Polytechnic.

She is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Nana Akosua Gyamfiaba Foundation.

Meanwhile, eight others who have filed their nominations with the Electoral Commission (EC) include Akwasi Nsiah Awuah, a business executive; Clement Adjei, a businessman; Maxwell Boakye, an entrepreneur and Nana Nkanomako IV, a chief.

The others are Nana Bonya Kofi VI, a chief, Mr Ernest Selorm Morttey, a medical representative, Jacob Oppon-Acquah, reverend minister, and Mohammed Danjumah Alhassan, a driver.
