Former Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister and Member of Parliament, Irene Naa Torshie Addo-Lartey, is reportedly set to announce her support for aspiring NPP presidential candidate Kennedy Agyapong as part of her ambition to become Vice Presidential candidate, sources close to the Agyapong campaign have revealed.

According to the sources, the announcement is expected to take place “any moment from now,” and has been largely influenced by a prophecy from Rev. El-Bernard Nelson-Eshun, who claimed to have seen a woman being sworn in as Ghana’s next Vice President.

Rev El-Bernard, said to be a close associate of Kennedy Agyapong, declared on Wednesday, October 1, that in the “spiritual realm” he had seen a woman being sworn in as Ghana’s 9th Vice President, emphasizing the significance of the number nine.

Because Naa Torshie was born in September — the ninth month — some men of God have reportedly convinced her that the prophecy refers to her, positioning her as the woman destined to become Ghana’s ninth Vice President.

Following the pastor’s pronouncement, sources say the Agyapong campaign, already aware of Naa Torshie’s long-standing Vice-Presidential ambitions, saw the prophecy as aligning with her political goals.

The team is said to have reached out to her with a promise of the running mate slot, should Kennedy Agyapong win the NPP’s presidential primaries in January.

“Irene Naa Torshie has long held an ambition to be Vice President. We are aware she was among those who lobbied to be selected as Dr Bawumia’s running mate for the 2024 election, a position that eventually went to former Energy Minister Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh,” a campaign source disclosed.

The source added, “She still harbours that dream, but with Dr. Opoku Prempeh and other names still in contention, her chances appear slim. That is why we have reached out to her, and we expect an announcement of her switch any moment from now to help fulfil her dream if we win the primaries.”
