Ghanaian media personality Abena Moet has responded to the backlash following her comments on a TV show that went viral on social media.

Moet faced criticism after a video clip surfaced in which she stated that she should not be expected to cook for her husband after a long day of work.

Many on social media accused her of being inconsiderate and disrespectful toward her husband.

However, speaking on her show on Neat FM on March 3, 2025, Moet clarified that her remarks were taken out of context, explaining that the discussion was part of a broader conversation about gender roles in relationships.

She revealed that she has received numerous messages and calls following the controversy, which has not only affected her but also her husband.

“If it only affected me, I wouldn’t be bothered, but it has affected my king, the man in my life and that really bothers me now.

“That is not what I said. First and foremost, the show is a one-hour program. We do not sit there to talk about our personal lives; we discuss assigned topics. That is why we are there because it’s a show, and we have to give you a show.

“The topic we were discussing was about a man who is not working and a wife who is the sole breadwinner,” she explained.

Moet clarified that the discussion focused on a scenario where a husband stays home while his wife works late.

She questioned why a man who is home all day would wait for his working wife to return before eating.

“I still stand by what I said because it was taken out of context. I clearly stated that if the man is at home all day while his wife is at work and only returns at, say, 10 p.m., what is the point of him waiting for her before eating?

“Why can’t he do something for himself? I don’t see any sense in that kind of thinking,” she said.
