Renowned Ghanaian gospel musician, Evangelist Edward Akwasi, has recounted how his ex-wife divorced him after years of marriage.
In an interview with Akoma FM, shared on X on December 2, 2025, Evangelist Edward Akwasi revealed that his marriage began to fall apart after he cheated on his wife 20 years ago.
According to him, although his ex-wife stayed with him when the incident happened, everything changed when he later became financially unstable.
“My wife didn’t divorce me when I cheated on her during the time I was financially stable. Back then, I used to travel abroad, so she stayed with me and even gave birth to three children. My kids are now 20, 16, and 14 years old.

“But she started complaining about the cheating that happened 20 years ago, at the time when I had lost all my money. She made it look like the cheating happened recently. Because of that, she even left the house and stayed somewhere else for six months until I went to plead with her to come back,” he said.
Evangelist Edward Akwasi further explained that despite his constant apologies, things became even worse after his wife built her own house and bought a car.
“So when she came back, she became financially stable and bought a car and even built a house. That was when things became worse. She said she couldn’t be with me anymore and that even if the Pope begged her, she wouldn’t listen. So we have been divorced for the past six years,” he added.
