Ghanaian highlife musician Fameye has shared his side of the story after a video of him went viral, angrily lambasting a DJ and event organisers while performing on stage in the UK.
In an interview on Hitz FM on December 19, 2024, the musician noted that his frustration wasn’t about the poor performance of the Disc Jockey (DJ) because he was the one person who played for all artistes billed for the event.
He further explained that the DJ was tired and also under pressure, resulting in the wrong selection of songs.
“I think I will say a big thank you to the DJ. My frustration wasn’t really about the DJ because he was the only person playing for almost every artiste on the show. And also, I think he was tired and engulfed with pressure. So I will thank him. And I also hope the organisers would do better next so everything will be fine. Honestly, he (DJ Chos) was my friend for three days and I didn’t expect that to happen,” he said.
Fameye added that he didn’t leave the stage when things didn’t go as planned. He insisted that he finished his performance and thanked his fans before leaving.
“I never left the stage when it wasn’t going well. I just approached the DJ. I finished performing, and the fans also threw money on me and gave me fans. I also told them God should bless them so much. Regardless of everything that happened, I really appreciate it. I was given ten minutes to perform at the event.”
The “Very Soon” hitmaker also rendered an apology to all DJs in the country.
“I want to use this opportunity to tell all Ghanaian DJs that I am sorry. Normally, I feel like every show depends on a DJ. And if something goes wrong with a DJ while on stage, it negatively affects me because I am more of a perfectionist. But I apologise to all DJs,” he said.
