Cina Soul has opened up about the toll of repeated verbal attacks from actor Big Akwes, saying the experience left scars that went far beyond her career.

During an interview with Doreen Avio on Hitz FM, the Ghanaian soulful vocalist explained that while her artistry remained unaffected, the abuse weighed heavily on her personal life. She revealed that prayer became her main refuge in coping with the trauma.

“I don’t think it affected as an artiste, it affected me as a person, a woman, someone’s child and a Christian. The number 1 thing I had to do was to pray,” she said.

What unsettled her the most, however, was the impact of Akwes’ choice of words on her family.

“Because it had not been the first time, it was the second time seeing that, the words and the gravity of the description was scary and I think it scared my family even more,” Cina Soul added.

The controversy first flared in April 2025, when Big Akwes lashed out at Cina Soul over costumes she wore in a dance promo for her album Did I Lie? He dismissed her appearance as “attention-seeking” and body-shamed her on air, sparking a public backlash.

Although Max TV later apologized to the singer, Akwes refused to retract his words, instead urging viewers to “re-analyse” what he said.

The attacks resurfaced months later in July 2025 during a live broadcast, when he issued fresh insults laced with violent threats. Netizens quickly condemned the remarks as disturbing and dangerous.

During a “Kiss, Marry and Kill” game, Akwes declared that he would marry actress Vivian Jill and “kill Cina Soul.” He went further, giving a chilling account of how he would allegedly summon her with a magic mirror, stab her repeatedly, and drink her blood.

Feared and unhappy about Akwes’ words, Cina Soul turned to social media, tagging the Ghana Police Service and the Ministry of Communications to demand action. She stressed that the threats now felt real and that she was genuinely afraid for her safety.
