According to a national executive of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the party’s Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) is a concentrated attempt to recover state resources that were illegally obtained by people who are unable to explain their unexpected wealth while serving in government or the state, rather than a witch hunt that targets innocent people.

Mustapha Gbande, the Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, emphasized the party’s resolve to prosecute those accountable for embezzlement of state monies in an exclusive interview with Julius Caesar Anadem on Ultimate 106.9 FM’s Kumasi station.

He claimed that in order to maintain accountability, he would support removing President Nana Akufo-Addo’s immunity, even if doing so would serve as a deterrent to politicians in office and those who are retired.

People are aware of my firmness. However, I want to be clear that I will stand up for what is right, regardless of who my government wrongfully targets.

However, let me add this: Mr. Gbande said, “We will help this country recover what has been stolen, even if it means taking away President Akufo-Addo’s immunity.”

He added that the current government will not permit anyone involved in corruption to leave the nation.

Nobody is leaving this country, including his ministers. Wontumi has reportedly fled, which is why I am in Kumasi in search of him. Even while they are still under their own administration, we will start making arrests of them,” he retorted.

Finally, Mr. Gbande emphasized that Ghanaians are keen for ORAL to be implemented successfully. Operation Recover All Loot is one of the most significant initiatives Ghanaians hope the incoming NDC government would implement.

“Ghanaians will be happy with us even if we don’t build roads or take on new projects as long as we restore the damage caused by the current government.”
