The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), led by its President, Bessa Simons, on Wednesday paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, to officially brief her on the upcoming final funeral arrangements for the late highlife legends Dada Kweku Duah, popularly known as Dada KD, and Charles Kwadwo Fosu, famously known as Daddy Lumba.

The delegation, which included family representatives of the late musicians, used the opportunity to extend a formal invitation to the Sector Minister and to seek her support.

In keeping with tradition, the group presented two bottles of schnapps to formally notify the minister of the arrangements.

According to the family, the funeral for Dada KD is rescheduled to take place on September 20, 2025, at the Forecourt of the State House in Accra.

The body will then be transported to Agona Asamang in the Ashanti Region on September 21 for burial.

The change in the original schedule, they explained, was necessitated by the ongoing funeral observances for the Asantehemaa.

Meanwhile, the date for the final funeral rites of Daddy Lumba has not yet been finalized.

The family indicated that an official date will be announced after the completion of the Asantehemaa’s funeral rites, in respect of traditional customs.

The Minister extended her heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and commended the union and relatives for their dedication to honoring the legacies of the late icons.

“I would like to extend my heartfelt condolences on the passing of our beloved relatives,” she said. “May God grant you strength and bring comfort to each one of you during this difficult time.”

Both Dada KD and Daddy Lumba were considered pillars of Ghana’s highlife music, having left behind a rich musical legacy that shaped generations.

Their final rites are expected to draw significant national attention and support from the creative arts community.
