Communications Director for Movement for Change, Solomon Owusu, has called for the arrest of Ghana Football Association (GFA) president Kurt Okraku following the tragic death of a football fan during a Ghana Premier League game.
Owusu argues that the GFA failed to provide adequate security at the venue, making Okraku accountable and should be questioned.
He expressed surprise that the police have yet to take action against Okraku after the incident on Sunday, February 2, 2025.
“Apart from people blaming Nsoatreman, I am very surprised that Kurt Okraku hasn’t been arrested yet. Kurt Okraku should be behind bars,” he said on Angel TV.
“The competition is organized by whom? As the GFA, security is their responsibility, so if they failed to ensure safety and someone has died, then, apart from arresting the home team, Kurt Okraku should also be facing charges.”
Owusu further stated that Okraku should have stepped down from his role, claiming that the GFA president is clueless.
“He must be behind bars before Baffour-Awuah and the others. We have lost our sense of shame in this country because he should have resigned by now. They have no clue about the game, and that’s why Ghana football is in rapid decline.”
His remarks come in response to the tragic passing of staunch Asante Kotoko fan Nana Pooley, who was reportedly stabbed five times and succumbed to his injuries during a league game between Nsoatreman FC and Asante Kotoko on Sunday, February 2, 2025.
