Moussa Niakhaté displayed a classy gesture of solidarity on Thursday, April 10, 2025, as he paid tribute to his injured teammate, Ernest Nuamah.

During Lyon’s Europa League quarter-final clash against Manchester United, Niakhaté celebrated his goal by holding up Nuamah’s shirt.

The touching moment highlighted his support for the young winger, who is currently sidelined with an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury.

The two players share a special bond, and this wasn’t the first time Niakhaté had honored his teammate.

After news broke that Nuamah would miss the rest of the season, Niakhaté took to social media to express his encouragement for his friend.

In a post shared on X, he wished for a strong comeback for the Ghanaian star.

The post read, “You will come back stronger, my bro.”

Meanwhile, André Onana’s costly mistakes denied Manchester United a first-leg victory against Lyon in their Europa League quarter-final.

Despite goals from Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee putting United in the lead, Onana’s errors allowed Lyon to equalize with goals from Thiago Almada and Rayan Cherki.

The tie now heads to Old Trafford finely poised for the second leg.

The Lyon players celebrate their goal tonight with 🇬🇭 Ernest Nuamah’s jersey.

Nuamah was ruled out for the season with an ACL injury this week.
