    A woman has suffered fatal head injuries in an alleged domestic violence attack.

    Lauren Hopkins, 47, was found with head injuries on the 16th floor of a unit block on Morehead Street at Redfern, inner Sydney, at 4.30pm on Saturday.

    She was treated by paramedics at the scene and rushed to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a critical condition.

    NSW Police released a statement on Tuesday that Ms Hopkins died in hospital at about 5.40pm on Monday.

    Her 30-year-old son Mitchell Hopkins was arrested and taken to Mascot Police Station following the incident.

    He was charged with cause grievous bodily harm to person with intent (DV).

    He will face court on July 10 and undergo a mental health assessment while he remains in custody. 

    A report will be prepared for the coroner.
