The year 2025 will be remembered as a big year for weddings in Ghana’s entertainment and public spheres.

From glamorous white weddings to vibrant traditional ceremonies, some African celebrities, socialites, and high-profile personalities made the headlines with their love stories.

With carefully curated outfits, elegant venues, and A-list guest lists, these weddings have not only celebrated unions but also highlighted the evolution of Ghana’s wedding culture.

Here are some of the biggest weddings that made headlines, particularly in Ghana and Nigeria in 2025.

    1. Mr Eazi and Temi Otedola’s cross-continent wedding

The most extravagant and widely discussed wedding of the year was that of Nigerian Afrobeats star Mr Eazi (Oluwatosin Ajibade) and actress/fashion entrepreneur Temi Otedola, daughter of billionaire Femi Otedola. The couple held a three-part wedding celebration across Monaco, Dubai and Iceland, making theirs one of the most lavish and culturally rich weddings of 2025.

Their journey began on May 9, 2025, with a civil ceremony in Monaco, chosen to honour Mr Eazi’s late mother’s birthday. The intimate legal event at Villa La Vigie featured bespoke fashion, including a custom suit from Wiederhoeft for Temi and Louis Vuitton for Eazi.

In July, the celebrations moved to Dubai for a vibrant Yoruba traditional wedding at the Otedola family home. Temi stunned in multiple couture outfits by designers like Zac Posen, Lisa Folawiyo and Oscar de la Renta, while Mr Eazi showcased traditional flair infused with contemporary fashion. King Sunny Ade and other music icons helped set the celebratory tone.

The final leg came on August 8 with a breathtaking white wedding in Iceland, held at Hallgrímskirkja Church in Reykjavik with panoramic views and a glass tent reception.

Global R&B star John Legend performed at the reception, and the event included a beach party under the Northern Lights, making it a cinematic finale to their multi-country celebration.

    2. Priscilla Ojo & Juma Jux

One of the most talked-about weddings of 2025 was that of Priscilla Ojo, daughter of Nigerian actress Iyabo Ojo, and Tanzanian music star Juma Jux.

Their union, widely tagged (JP2025), was celebrated with multiple ceremonies across countries, blending Nigerian, Tanzanian and Islamic traditions.

The couple first sealed their marriage in a beautiful Islamic ceremony in Dar es Salaam in February, followed by a civil wedding, a traditional Yoruba celebration in Lagos in April and a grand white wedding soon after.

Their wedding was graced by numerous celebrities, including Nollywood stars like Mercy Aigbe and Toyin Abraham, and even political figures such as Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, who joined in the celebration.

The final leg of the festivities culminated in Tanzania in May, making #JP2025 one of the most extravagant and culturally rich wedding celebrations of the year.

The couple has since welcomed their first child, adding to the joyful narrative around their union.

    3. Davido and Chioma

Although not a Ghanaian wedding, Nigerian superstar Davido and Chioma Rowland’s Miami wedding attracted Ghanaian personalities such as Edwina Akufo-Addo and Stonebwoy, further connecting the event to Ghana’s social scene.

The lavish ceremony made global headlines and featured a star-studded guest list. For Ghanaians, the wedding was a reminder of the growing trend of destination weddings among celebrities.

    4. Empress Jamila and Kwabena

Influencer and fashion stylist Empress Jamila tied the knot with Kwabena in September 2025, in what has been described as one of the most Instagram-worthy weddings of the year.

The ceremony, held in Accra, featured a colourful traditional celebration followed by a modern white wedding reception.

Jamila’s choice of bridal fashion, including a dramatic ombré Kente gown quickly went viral, sparking admiration from fashion enthusiasts across Ghana. The couple’s attention to detail, from décor to seating arrangements, was widely praised.

    5. Fiifi Coleman and Liza Kwarteng

Ghanaian actor and filmmaker Fiifi Coleman brought glamour and entertainment star power to Kumasi with his wedding on September 27, 2025.

Known for his work in the local film industry, Coleman’s union combined Ashanti traditions with modern flair, earning the nickname `FIZA25’ among fans online.

The ceremony was attended by prominent Ghanaian actors, musicians, and influencers, making it one of the most talked-about celebrity weddings of the year. Many praised Coleman and his bride for maintaining authenticity while hosting a high-profile event that was also intimate and meaningful.

    6. Kofi Atta Kakra Kusi and Sharon Danquah

High-profile public servant Kofi Atta Kakra Kusi, Deputy Director at the Ghana Tourism Authority, married Sharon Danquah in a grand celebration in Accra.

The wedding drew attention not just for its elegance, but also for the prominent attendees, including diplomats, government officials, and entertainment personalities.

Figures such as Ambassador Erieka Bennett and former Deputy Minister Barbara Asher Ayisi were present, underscoring the event’s significance within both the public and social spheres. The ceremony featured a seamless blend of traditional and modern elements, reflecting Ghana’s evolving wedding culture.
