Former Chairman of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, has called on the technical handlers of the Black Stars to overhaul the squad, citing that most of the current players are not good enough to feature at the 2026 World Cup.

After failing to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament for the first time in over two decades, the four-time African champions made a return to the global stage after finishing at the top of their group with 25 points.

With the team aiming to go past the group phase, Dr Nyaho Tamakloe believes that most of the players who played during the qualifiers are not good enough to feature at the Mundial next summer.

According to him, the technical team led by Otto Addo must overhaul the squad and bring in quality players ahead of the tournament.

“We are going to play at the highest stage of football, and if the country wants to progress, then most of the boys who brought us to where we are today are not good players,” he told Graphic Sports.

The Black Stars will learn their group opponents for the World Cup on Friday, November 5.
