Under phase one of the Nkoko Nketenkete programme, each beneficiary would receive 50 chicks Under phase one of the Nkoko Nketenkete programme, each beneficiary would receive 50 chicks

Thomas Mas’ud, the Atebubu/Amantin Municipal Chief Executive Officer says the Assembly has received 1,050 birds for the implementation of the phase one of the government’s ‘Nkoko Nketenkete’ initiative.

He said besides poultry farmers and livestock keepers, several institutions had expressed their interest in participating in the implementation of the programme.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview at Atebubu in the Bono East Region, Mas’ud said some educational institutions, religious bodies and traditional councils had all expressed their interest in the programme.

He said the Assembly was doing its assessments for the distribution of the birds and assured the Assembly’s commitment to monitor the birds for the nation to derive the optimum benefits.

Mas’ud said the government was investing hugely in the ‘Nkoko Nketenkete’ initiative and urged beneficiaries to take proper care of the fowls.

President John Dramani Mahama unveiled the government’s flagship poultry revitalisation programme, the Nkoko Nketenkete in 2025 which is not just a job-creation intervention but a deliberate policy to curb the heavy importation of frozen chicken.

It is designed to bring poultry production directly to the doorsteps of every Ghanaian, in homes, in schools and communities across the country.

Beneficiaries would receive birds, feed, and other supplies to start their poultry businesses, transforming subsistence into self-sustaining livelihoods.

Under phase one of the programme, each beneficiary would receive 50 chicks, feed support, and technical guidance to ensure the survival and sustainability of the project.
