British professional boxer, Anthony Joshua promoted the Nigerian culture after he honored the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun by prostrating to greet him.

Joshua, whose parents hailed from Sagamu in Ogun State, was honored by the governor on Monday when he visited the government house in Abeokuta.

The governor of Ogun State designated the world-famous boxing champion as the state’s sports ambassador, acknowledging his remarkable achievements in boxing that continue to inspire millions.

The 35-year-old arrived in Nigeria a few days ago for an end-of-the-year vacation.

In a video of the visit shared by Abiodun on X, Joshua could be seen prostrating for the governor before they embraced.

Internet users expressed excitement, commending Anthony Joshua for portraying a well-trained Yoruba man.

While some netizens criticized his outfit for a state government honorary award, others likened his respectful demeanor to musicians who would not bow down to welcome the governor.

    See reactions below,

@geelan1 well trained yoruba boy. nothing like home training. It radiates. I’ll love to be yoruba a million times over ❤️

@steve_not_biko Davido or Wizkid no fit prostrate like this. I don’t blame them. Our governors don’t command respect
