Egyptian footballer Mohammed Salah has expressed his displeasure with ex-English defender Jamie Carragher over how he talks about his issues.

The controversy started when Salah granted an interview saying that he has not received any contract offer from the Liverpool hierarchy.

Carragher described Salah’s move as selfish, questioning the timing of the interview.

The former Liverpool defender continued to criticize how Salah is handling his contract renewal talks with Liverpool, adding that it could affect the team’s performance.

During the Monday Night Football show aired on Sky Sports on January 6, 2024, Carragher once again took a dig at Salah while praising Liverpool captain Virgil Van Dijk for showing maturity despite his contract expiring soon.

Salah, who was displeased with the remarks, took to his X account to respond to the pundit, saying, “I’m starting to think you’re obsessed with me.”

Carragher, after being notified about the comment, also replied indicating that he is indeed obsessed with the Liverpool attacker due to his sterling performances for the club.

“I have always been obsessed with you [Mo Salah]. Hopefully, that obsession will continue next season,” he wrote on X.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that Liverpool are in talks with Mohammed Salah and Van Dijk to extend their contracts beyond the 2024/25 season.

Salah has been Liverpool’s best player this season so far, scoring 18 goals and making 13 assists in the Premier League, with the club leading the table.
