Ghanaian attacker Mohammed Kudus’ solo goal against Freiburg in the 2023 Europa League has been nominated for the 2024 FIFA Puskas Award.

The goal was his first in the match, as he scored a brace in the 5-0 win at the London Stadium on Thursday, March 14, 2024.

Kudus scored the goal with a belter, taking the ball from his own half and dribbling past three players before slotting it home with his weaker foot.

Kudus’ strike will compete among eleven goals scored by other players during the 2023/24 season, with votes from eligible participants determining the winner.

The goal won the 2023/2024 Europa League Goal of the Season due to Kudus’ brilliant dribbling skills and his ability to hold onto the ball for so long.

The same goal against Freiburg won Kudus the West Ham Goal of the Season award in 2023 and also earned him the highest-rated goal by WhoScored.com.

The 2024 FIFA Football Awards will be held in January 2025, after the nominees for all categories were announced on November 28, 2024.

The Black Stars forward has not found his best form yet in the 2024/2025 season as he struggles to regain his goal-scoring form.
