Salah will not feature for Liverpool in their UCL fixture Salah will not feature for Liverpool in their UCL fixture

Liverpool have decided to leave Mohamed Salah out of the squad to face Inter Milan in the Tuesday, December 9, 2025, Champions League fixture, though the forward will not face disciplinary action despite his headline-making interview over the weekend.

The decision comes 48 hours after Salah unleashed a stunning outburst following the dramatic 3–3 draw with Leeds, claiming he had been “thrown under the bus,” insisting he had “no relationship” with manager Arne Slot, and even hinting that Liverpool’s upcoming league match against Brighton could be his final appearance at Anfield.

The 33-year-old was present in training on Monday, December 8, 2025, and worked with the squad as usual, but he will not travel to Italy.

Club sources say the call to remove him from selection was made internally, with Slot fully consulted and supportive. Liverpool believe giving Salah a short break from match involvement is “in the best interests of everyone.”

You are destroying your legacy at Liverpool – Rooney tells Mohammed Salah

Salah, who has been a consistent starter and talisman since arriving in 2017, has seen his role diminish in recent weeks, starting on the bench in the last three matches amid a noticeable dip in form. The Egyptian has scored five goals in 18 appearances this season.

The forward is still set to join Egypt for the Africa Cup of Nations on December 15, 2025, after Liverpool’s matches against Inter and Brighton, a timeline he hinted could mark the end of his Liverpool journey.
