An update on the health of Miss Jamaica, Gabrielle Henry, 28, has been issued by the Miss Universe Organization following a worrying incident where she fell from the stage, resulting in a stay in the ICU.

Miss Universe President Raúl Rocha released a statement on Instagram on November 24, aiming to address “recent speculation” and provide a “clear and respectful update regarding Dr. Gabrielle Henry, Miss Universe Jamaica 2025.”

“Out of respect for Dr. Henry and her family, the Organization maintains strict discretion regarding specific details of her medical status,” Rocha continued, “We believe that matters concerning her health should be communicated only at the appropriate time and solely at the family’s discretion, or by Dr. Henry herself should she choose to do so.”

Rocha recalled that after Henry’s accident, he “personally entered the stage to assist her, coordinated urgent medical attention, and oversaw her immediate transfer to the hospital.”

“I was present at the emergency room alongside her family, with whom I spoke directly,” he added.

“I recommended a series of precautionary actions, some beyond standard protocol, to guarantee the most accurate evaluation, monitoring, and medical oversight,” the statement went on. “Additional medical specialists were also brought in to provide multiple professional assessments and ensure full clarity regarding her condition.”

Rocha acknowledged that, despite “difficult moments and unexpected concerns” over the previous four days, all issues were successfully resolved due to the “excellent medical care provided.”

“Today, we are pleased to share that the latest medical report confirms that Dr. Gabrielle Henry is in good health and nearing discharge,” Rocha revealed. “We will continue to communicate only essential information with professionalism, sensitivity, and respect.”

Rocha concluded, “While unfounded speculation has circulated publicly, our full attention has remained on Dr. Henry’s care and recovery. We are grateful that she is now close to being released from the hospital.”

Henry suffered a dramatic fall during the preliminary evening gown round at Miss Universe 2025 in Thailand on November 19. The beauty queen fell off the runway and face-planted into the audience, prompting immediate concern and assistance from spectators. Footage later showed Henry being taken away on a stretcher. Following her swift transfer to a hospital in Thailand, officials verified that Miss Jamaica had a miraculous escape, avoiding any life-threatening injuries and sustaining no broken bones.

However, according to the New York Post, on November 21, Miss Universe announced that Henry would remain in the ICU for another week, with Henry’s sister, Phylicia Henry-Samuels, disclosing that her condition was not “doing as well as we would have hoped.”

Henry, who is an ophthalmologist, founded the See Me Foundation, a charity dedicated to assisting visually impaired people in Jamaica. She was scheduled to participate in the 47th annual Miss Universe pageant, which was eventually won by Miss Mexico Fátima Bosch Fernández.

The Miss Universe Organization faced controversy and high-profile resignations leading up to the final competition. Following her fifth-place finish, Miss Côte d’Ivoire candidate Olivia Yacé also resigned.

According to People, turmoil arose on November 4 when executive Nawat Itsaragrisil publicly confronted the eventual winner, Bosch (Mexico), for allegedly skipping a mandatory social media photo shoot, a dispute that was livestreamed.

Days before the November 21 final, multiple officials withdrew. Judge Omar Harfouch resigned, citing “internal misconduct” and alleging an “impromptu jury” selected 30 finalists, a claim denied by the Miss Universe Organization.

Pro soccer player Claude Makélélé also withdrew for “personal reasons,” and selection committee president Princess Camilla di Borbone delle Due Sicilie resigned as well.
