A local critter dubbed Cedric the squirrel by residents of a Texas town is still alive after he was tragically shot with a steel dart through his neck.
An Alamo Heights, Texas, homeowner captured a photo of Cedric on November 11, two months after the creature miraculously survived the seemingly targeted attack.
‘It sounds silly, but you know how people are when they lose their pets or a family member? I had gotten over that grief, finally,’ the concerned local Sarah Reveley told San Antonio Express-News.
‘So when (my neighbor) sent me that picture, I was like, “Oh, my goodness!” … I just couldn’t believe it, I was astounded.’
Reveley was the first person to see Cedric in the neighborhood with the dart lodged in his neck, spotting him in August.

As of this week, no one has come forward with information that will incriminate those responsible for Cedric’s injuries
‘I looked at him and I thought, “He’s got a twig or something [in his neck],'” Reveley told KENS 5 at the time.
She came closer to the squirrel and realized the awful truth.
Revely and her neighbors believe the sadistic culprit shot Cedric with a blowgun.
The squirrel has been one of Reveley’s frequent visitors, but the injured animal ran off after she attempted to get closer to help him.
Revely was happy to see Cedric in her yard again in September, the first time sighting since his injury.
‘It was such a bittersweet moment. I was happy to see him, but I’m still so worried about him being out there, hurt like that,’ she told San Antonio Express-News.

Reveley has theorized that the attack on Cedric is connected to the deaths of two other squirrels in her yard last summer.
The homeowner did not reveal when she discovered the squirrels’ bodies or how they died, but the similarities were enough to make Reveley get the police involved.
She created a flyer featuring pictures of Cedric with the dart in his neck with information on the .625 Caliber 4′ blowgun she believes the attacker used.
There is also a $500 reward for information leading to the identities and convictions of the individuals involved in the shooting.

Texas’ Chapter 4, Section 12 of Alamo Heights code of ordinances features one that prohibits the inhumane treatment of animals.
This treatment includes torture, deprivation of necessary food or drinks, or failure to provide adequate shelter during dangerous weather.
Based on the ordinance, the persons responsible for shooting Cedric could be charged with a misdemeanor.
‘I know damn sure that I’m going to find out and this isn’t going to happen again,’ Reveley told KENS 5.
Cedric isn’t the only squirrel whose misfortune has garnered national attention.
New York-based internet star Peanut the squirrel was seized from its owner and euthanized, causing major outrage from his fans and New Yorkers alive.
To make matters worse, the creature tested negative for rabies despite DEC and Chemung County officials saying they killed the animal to test for the deadly virus.
