The Minority in Parliament is demanding urgent action and accountability from the government following a surge in COVID-19 cases at the University of Ghana, Legon.
They are calling for the Minister of Health to appear before Parliament to provide a comprehensive update on the situation, including measures to contain the virus, testing protocols, vaccination rates, and available medical resources.
The Minority expressed concern over the government’s silence and accused it of downplaying the severity of the outbreak, which is fueling fear and panic.
“We don’t want to repeat past mistakes. Let’s act now and bring the Health Minister to brief us,” Minority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, stated.
MP for Nalerigu/Gambaga, Nurudeen Muhammed Mumuni, added, “It’s crucial for the Health Minister to clarify whether COVID-19 is making a comeback.”
Meanwhile, the University of Ghana, Legon, is yet to issue an official statement on the exact number of cases or containment measures.
