Michael Tetteh Kwetey, a former Constituency Secretary and Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has announced his intention to contest the party’s Greater Accra Regional Chairmanship when nominations are opened.

In a declaration of intent, Mr Kwetey said the decision followed calls from NDC supporters across the Greater Accra Region and beyond, urging him to offer himself for the position.

He said the confidence expressed in his leadership was largely based on his years of dedicated service to the party in various capacities.

“Comrades, I am here today in response to your calls. I have listened to you, reflected on your confidence in me, and heeded your call,” he said.

Mr Kwetey, who recently contested as a Parliamentary Candidate aspirant in Ningo Prampram, said he would formally pick a nomination form once the process for the regional elections begins.

He pledged to serve the party with “dedication, humility, integrity, and a strong sense of responsibility.”

Expressing gratitude to party supporters for their continued confidence, Mr Kwetey said he remained committed to strengthening the NDC and contributing to its progress in the Greater Accra Region.

He ended his declaration with the party slogan: “Long live the NDC. Long live the Greater Accra Region. Ɛyɛ Zu, Ɛyɛ Za.”
