The New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Dome Kwabenya in the Greater Accra Region has lost the 2024 parliamentary elections to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Faustina Elikplim Akurugu.

According to the returning officer of the Electoral Commission, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA), Michael Oquaye, garnered 50,477 votes, while Akurugu secured her win with 51,634 votes.

Meanwhile, Vice-President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) Flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, officially conceded defeat to his main opponent, John Dramani Mahama, in Ghana’s 2024 Presidential Election.

Dr. Bawumia made the announcement at a press conference on Sunday, December 8, 2024, emphasizing that his decision to concede defeat was motivated by the need to reduce tension and preserve national peace.

He promised that his government would ensure a smooth transition of power to John Mahama and is available to help when the need arises.
