MG Auto Trading Ghana Limited, a subsidiary of the Mansour Group, has unveiled its latest luxury sport utility vehicle (SUV), the All-New MG RX9, at a colourful ceremony in Accra.

The unveiling of the MG RX9 reaffirms the company’s commitment to the Ghanaian automobile market.

In attendance at the unveiling ceremony were government officials, industry players and automobile enthusiasts. The ceremony marked another significant milestone in the brand’s growing presence in the country.

Speaking at the launch, the Country Director of MG Ghana, Mr Raman Malhotra, expressed delight at the steady growth of the MG brand in Ghana, describing it as one of the fastest-growing automobile names in the country.

He said the unveiling of the new RX9 symbolised MG’s focus on innovation, comfort and customer satisfaction.

Mr Malhotra disclosed that since MG began operations in Ghana in 2021, the company had sold over 2,000 vehicles, a figure he described as remarkable for a brand relatively new to the local market.

“The demand for MG vehicles continues to rise steadily, reflecting the confidence and trust Ghanaians have in our brand,” he noted.

He further announced that MG Ghana would begin local assembly of MG vehicles by the end of the year, a move aimed at boosting local employment and supporting the government’s industrialisation agenda.

The Country Director commended the Ministry of Trade and Industry for its continuous support, singling out Mr Kwasi Sarpong of the ministry for his efforts in facilitating the company’s assembly plants.

Providing a background to the parent company, Mr Malhotra said the Mansour Group, headquartered in Egypt, began operations in 1975 with a single brand, Chevrolet.

He explained that over the past five decades, the Group had expanded into a $10 billion multinational enterprise with operations across Africa and the Gulf region.

In Ghana, he said the Group operated through MG Auto Trading, serving as exclusive distributors for Chevrolet, Isuzu, MG, Opel and Cadillac brands.

He said the Group had been present in Ghana for over three decades, contributing significantly to economic growth and job creation.

“Within MG Ghana and MAGNA, we have a team of about 75 skilled professionals working across the country,” he said, adding that the company had expanded operations from Accra to Kumasi, Takoradi, Tamale and Bolgatanga to serve customers better.

Mr Malhotra also highlighted MG Ghana’s strong relationship with the government, revealing that the company was among the largest suppliers of vehicles to ministries, public institutions, fleet operators and individuals.

Currently, MG’s total fleet on Ghana’s roads exceeds 7,000 vehicles, demonstrating the high level of customer confidence and satisfaction with the brand.

The newly unveiled MG RX9, he said, is a premium SUV tailored to meet the lifestyle and aspirations of Ghanaian motorists.

Combining advanced technology, power, and comfort, the RX9, he said, was designed for both local and expatriate users who value style and performance.

The event concluded with a presentation by Manish Daryanani, Head of Sales & Marketing, who showcased the key features of the RX9 to guests at the ceremony.
